FM. Here is a duplicate 35mm B&W slide of a photo by Fred McLeod that was taken at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 24 October 1949. Photo Caption: "Forty-two car freight overtaking long freight on outer track. The New Haven 2-6-0 is headed for the Johnstown Mills. Oct. 24, 1949." Placed just three cars ahead of a pair of Pennsylvania Railroad Class "I" (2-10-0) "Decapod" tail-end pushers is New Haven Railroad engine #251, a 2-6-0 "Mogul" on its way to be scrapped. This photo comes from a slide set entitled "Horseshoe Curve, Pennsylvania Railroad" that's produced and distributed by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa (22-41). |
