Description:  While their numbers are still very high, CN's SD40-2s and SD40-2Ws are now an endangered species. CN has begun to retire these locomotives as they suffer major failures. With over 65 SD70M-2s and GEVOs coming online in the next couple years, the services of these SD40s will no longer be needed. But for the time being, they still have some work to do. 5244 leads 392 past the station.

This is a hard scene to duplicate now as the CN and CP have initiated directional running where all eastbound trains, be they CN or CP, run on CP Thompson Subdivision across the Thompson River so this location on the CN Ashcroft Subdivision currently only sees westbounds.
