Built in November of 1972 as Erie Lackwanna SD45-2 #3676, this engine later became Conrail SD45-2 #6661. After the Conrail split, it became CSX SD45-2 #8886. Shortly after CSX acquired it, the 20-cylinder EMD 645 prime mover was replaced with a 16-cylinder EMD 645 prime mover -- making the engine (internally) an SD40-2. But looking at that carbody, any fan of classic EMD power will always know that's an SD45-2! |
