The rivalry between BNSF and Union Pacific is evident on Tehachapi Pass as the line is shared by both BNSF and UP trains as evident in this photo. Here, a UP empty autorack train and its trio of SD70Ms waits for BNSF ES44C4 #7106 to lead her hotshot Z-train past on the mainline. The line over Tehachapi is owned by UP, but BNSF runs over the Pass on trackage rights.
