Amtrak dome-observation car 9310, originally Wabash 1601 and then N&W 1601, was bringing up the rear of a special train moving cars for Amtrak's 1977 TRANSCONTINENTAL STEAM EXCURSION from New Orleans to Birmingham. The train originated at New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal and was powered by Louisville & Nashville GP38 4007 and Amtrak E9A 428. It was photographed at 7:15AM passing through New Orleans City Park on the Southern Railway. |
