| Southern Pacific SD40T-2 8548 had been built in January 1979, and most of it was still shiney enough to reflect the afternoon sun as it was leaving Avondale Yard on a westbound train. The locomotive was assigned Union Pacific number 8658, but this was not applied before it was retired on 6 August 2002. It was subsequently GE Credit (GECX) 8548 and then Helm (HLCX) 6140. |
