Southern Pacific brakeman Murphy J. Comeaux was on the ground at Morgan City, Louisiana protecting the rear of the westbound SUNSET in accordance with Rule 99 as the train waited for a clear signal at the Berwick Bay bridge. The train consisted of FP7 units 6458 and 6457, baggage car 6777, automat car 10613, and coaches 2242 and 2364; and this was the last day of daily operation. Starting the next day, the SUNSET would only run three times a week. |
