| HLCX 6399 is quite a rare bird. It was built as EMDX 434B an SD40X. It is basically a pre production SD40 built on an SD35 frame. It then became UP 3041 and eventually was sold to Morrison Knudson that rebuilt it to Dash 2 specs and added it to its leasing fleet and eventually wound up as part of Helms fleet. My guess that this locomotive got cut up along with a good chunk of Helms older six axle fleet after the leasing market bottomed out in 2008. It is seen in the consist of SU-404 at Ridgefield Park, NJ 8/28/2005. |
