Here is page six of a 78-page booklet published by Harry P. Albrecht entitled "Those Amazing Class 'D' Locomotives." It was issued originally in June of 1981. Both of these images are of Pennsylvania Railroad engine #573, a D-3 (4-4-0) "American" built in the Altoona Machine Shops during December of 1872, then sold to the Grand Rapids & Indiana Railroad and renumbered "56" in June of 1883. In 1876, this locomotive was assigned to pull the Jarrett & Palmer Theatrical Train out of Jersey City. |
